The trenches of World War II form the basis for this action packed drama which debuted on American television in the early 1960s. Vic Morrow (as Sgt. Chip Saunders) and Rick Jason (as Lt. Gil Hanley) starred throughout the show, alongside a variety of guest stars (Tom Skerritt, Tab Hunter, and Harry Dean Stanton among many others in Season 1), and revered directors (Robert Altman, Burt Kennedy). When AMERICAN IDOL first graced TV screens in 2002, the search for the next big singing star threw up a mixture of the talented and the terrible, as thousands of eager participants got the chance to audition for the judges. This collection features some of the worst wannabe idols, who got only a mercifully brief glimpse of fame. William Hung, who gets the unenviable honor of being the cream of this particular crop, is the most famous of the bunch, even scoring a record deal that highlighted his inimitable lack of vocal talent. Among the other highlights are the two worst performances from each of the first four seasons of the show, some of the harshest criticism doled out by the judges to this vocally challenged group, a look at some of the worst outfits worn by the contestants, and a collection of the weird and wonderful lengths to which some people will go to in their attempts to be a star. An edgier version of SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE, the Canadian sketch comedy series SCTV premiered in 1977 and ran for three seasons in a half-hour format before being picked up by NBC and expanded to 90 minutes in 1981. Unusual for a sketch comedy series, SCTV`s skits were tied together by the framing device of a fictional television network populated by feuding newscasters, dishonest talk show hosts, failed cabaret singers, fishing musicians, and other eccentric show biz types. In between were sketches of biting contemporary satire delivered by an inspired cast of future stars: Joe Flaherty, Eugene Levy, Andrea Martin, Rick Moranis, Catherine O`Hara, Dave Thomas, and the late-great John Candy. This collection includes the second disc of SCTV - VOLUME ONE for a total of two 90-minute episodes:

Originally finding success as a radio program, THE GEORGE BURNS AND GRACIE ALLEN SHOW became one of television`s first and most unique sitcoms. A longtime husband and wife comedy team, Burns and Allen played themselves on the show, which focused mostly on the comic problems created by flighty and air-headed Gracie`s misunderstandings. Every week, during the whirlwind of events surrounding the couple and their friends, George would turn to the audience with a series of humorous observations about life spurred by the plot of the episode.
