Though not a huge hit while it was on the air, THE PARTRIDGE FAMILY has since come to epitomize many aspects of the early'70s. The show's portrayal of the excitement of a rock& roll lifestyle--however toned down--was quintessentially representative of its time. The family of six is headed by mom Shirley (Shirley Jones), a recently-widowed supermom who is short of financial resources. Jones' real-life stepson David Cassidy played teenaged stepson Keith, while the rest of the family was comprised of Laurie (Susan Dey), Danny (Danny Bonaduce), Chris (Jeremy Gelbwaks), and Tracy (Suzanne Crough). In the first episode, the family stumbles into making a hit song, gains a manager through Keith's diligence, and go on tour in an old painted schoolbus. Their first venue is in Las Vegas opening for Johnny Cash, and the family has to combat their stage fright. The season sees the family learning how to deal with their newfound fame, with Keith's heartthrob status getting the best of him and Danny considering a solo career. The group also plays at a feminist rally, has a nasty encounter with a family of skunks, and 10-year-old Danny gets drafted by accident. Law& Order: Special Victims Unit is a spin off of NBC's incredibly popular and long running crime drama, Law& Order. The cult television series that inspired THE X-FILES, KOLCHAK: THE NIGHT STALKER was not nearly as successful as that later show yet still maintains an influence. The show, which ran in 1972, follows the creepy adventures of Carl Kolchak, a scruffy, cynical reporter played by Darren McGavin. When Kolchak finds that the murderer responsible for a series of bloody murders plaguing his home city of Las Vegas is a member of the undead, a vampire out for food, he undertakes a quest to defeat the bloodsucking fiend. Gritty, dark, and dramatic, KOLCHAK was described by many critics as too scary for television!

Going boldly where no man had gone before, Gene Roddenberry`s cult phenomenon STAR TREK debuted in 1966 and reflected that decade`s optimistic preoccupation with space travel. Set in the 23rd century, the series chronicled the intergalactic adventures of the U.S.S. Enterprise on its five-year mission to explore the outer reaches of space. Encountering a now-iconic assembly of innovative alien life forms such as the Klingons, Romulans, Tribbles, and Khan Noonian Singh, the ship`s jumpsuited crew was a then unheard-of font of multiculturism: Asian Sulu (George Takei), African-American Uhura (Nichelle Nichols), and Scotsman Montgomery Scott (James Doohan). But it was the contrasting personalities of cooly logical Vulcan Mr. Spock (Leonard Nimoy), emotionally intuitive medical officer Leonard Bones McCoy (DeForest Kelley), and womanizing ship captain James T. Kirk (William Shatner in definitive overacting mode) that lent the series much of its charm--and spawned a rabid cult following that continues to fuel costume sales and convention bookings to this very day. One of the Sci-Fi Channel`s most popular series, FARSCAPE is the story of a band of misfit renegades on the run from military Peacekeepers. The hero of the series is the human John Crichton (Ben Browder), a young astronaut and astrophysicist who becomes stranded on the other side of the universe when his Farscape module goes through a wormhole. There, he is taken in by the sentient ship Moya, whose passengers are a mixed lot of aliens, all of whom are on the run from the Peacekeepers. Unfortunately, while the ship is docked and making repairs, Crichton tangles with the captive Peacekeeper Aeryn (Claudia Black), a beautiful and volatile woman who alerts her captain about the Moya, putting everyone in danger. This collection includes special editions of the second season`s episodes 215-222.
