One of the first TV cop shows, DRAGNET rose to popularity in the 1950s, then managed to cast its spell over many subsequent generations of viewers. The familiar theme tune opens the four episodes included here, and is followed by some tough crimes to solve for Detective Joe Friday (Jack Webb). In these installments in the series, the stiff, stoic Friday has to deal with furniture thieves, a gruesome murder, local bars besieged by armed robbers, and a dead secretary, while always relying on his oft-repeated mantra for getting to the bottom of each case:
Just the facts, ma`am.

An edgier version of SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE, the Canadian sketch comedy series SCTV premiered in 1977 and ran for three seasons in a half-hour format before being picked up by NBC and expanded to 90 minutes in 1981. Unusual for a sketch comedy series, SCTV`s skits were tied together by the framing device of a fictional television network populated by feuding newscasters, dishonest talk show hosts, failed cabaret singers, fishing musicians, and other eccentric show biz types. In between were sketches of biting contemporary satire delivered by an inspired cast of future stars: Joe Flaherty, Eugene Levy, Andrea Martin, Rick Moranis, Catherine O`Hara, Dave Thomas, and the late-great John Candy. This collection includes the first disc of SCTV - VOLUME ONE for a total of two 90-minute episodes:

When DALLAS premiered on network television in 1978, it became the first nighttime soap opera since PEYTON PLACE to heavily attract nationwide viewers. Chronicling the lives of several wealthy families in the oil-driven world of Dallas, Texas, DALLAS was principally driven by dramatic affairs of the rich Ewing family. Driven by lust, greed, and the endless quest for power, each family member did their part in contributing to the town`s drama, scandal, and intrigue. Starring Larry Hagman as the nefarious J.R.
