The popular South Korean mini-series DAE JANG GEUM (aka JEWEL IN THE PALACE) earned that country`s highest-ever television ratings with an epic blend of historical and personal intrigue. Based on a true story, the period-piece costume drama centers on its titular heroine, Jang-geum (Yeong-ae Lee), a 16th-century orphan girl who enters the king`s royal court as a lowly kitchen maid. When the political machinations of an evil duchess send Jang-geum into exile, she leaves to study medicine and triumphantly returns to the palace as the King`s personal physician. With David Brent (Ricky Gervais) receiving his marching orders at the end of THE OFFICE's second season, this two-part special shines a light on what happened to Brent in his post-paper merchant career. The office itself now falls under the watchful eye of Gareth (Mackenzie Crook), who took Brent's job, with his sparring partner Tim (Martin Freeman) going to increasingly odd lengths to make Gareth's life a misery. Meanwhile, Dawn (Lucy Davis) and Lee (Joel Beckett) have moved to the sunnier climate of Florida, but don't appear to be terribly thrilled about it. Brent blew his redundancy package on a pop career, which ended before it had really begun due to an awful single (a cover of If You Don't Know Me By Now, with requisite cheesy video), and now plys his trade as a travelling salesman who sells cleaning products. But the documentary makers have some fun in store, by bringing all the former Wernham-Hogg employees back together for the annual office Christmas party. The comedic tales of ex-con Howard Booth (Peter Bowles) return for a second time in this further set of episodes from the popular British show. Having moved in with his sister, Mary (Rosalind Ayres) and her husband, Trevor (George Cole), on his release from prison, Howard soon settles back into his old ways as he thoroughly exploits his well-to-do sister at every opportunity. Fortunately Trevor is a little more clued in to Howard's devious ways, and constantly tries to catch him out, much to the consternation of Mary, who believes her brother has never done anything wrong in his life. A witty show that follows in the great tradition of UK comedy programming, THE BOUNDER is sure to please Anglophiles everywhere.
