One of the major family sitcoms of the late 1980s/early 1990s, ROSEANNE became popular for its no-nonsense attitude and its humorously honest portrayal of American life. With a set resembling the living room of countless family homes across the United States, the show concerned itself the with the antics of its main star, Roseanne Barr (later Roseanne Arnold), her husband Dan (John Goodman), and their kids. More like a regular working-class family than any other characters previously seen on television, the Illinois-bred Conners use brutal honesty and acerbic wit to raise their three children: rapidly maturing Becky, sarcastic Darlene, and precocious DJ. Meanwhile, they have to deal with the typical problems of an American family, such as annoying relatives, worries about jobs and money, and the struggle to find time for themselves. ROSEANNE was among the first shows on television to deal in a truthful and deglamorized way with everyday issues that average viewers could relate to--and it managed to remain funny and touching while doing so. Jaye Tyler (Caroline Dhavernas) is a quirky young woman in her early twenties, and a misfit in her family of overachievers. She works at a souvenir shop at Niagara Falls, and leads a pretty normal existence, until one day the extraordinary suddenly introduces itself into her world. The inanimate animals that populate the shop begin coming to life, bearing cryptic messages that only Jaye can hear, and she can't tell if she's hallucinating or if it's really happening. Her family thinks she's crazy, that's for sure, so she turns to her best friend Mahandra (Tracie Thoms) for advice, and also befriends a local bartender named Eric (Tyron Leitso), who tries to help her figure out the truth. As the animals lead her into the lives of others, involving herself in their problems in sometimes meddlesome, but often helpful, ways, she encounters a rich and eclectic medley of characters. Ultimately, though she is never entirely certain of her own sanity. Her life and the lives of others are touched by a strange magic that lends meaning to the seemingly random events of daily living.

This hilarious Canadian series is an ingenious blend of reality TV, documentary, comedy, and game show. Best friends since they were kids, Kenneth Hotz (Kenny) and Spencer Rice (Spenny) couldn`t be more different. The buttoned-up Spenny is uptight, often paranoid, and always plays by the rules, while Kenny is a playful jokester, who will nonetheless win by any means necessary. Each show pits the friends against each other in a rather unconventional competition; Spenny tries to win by good old-fashioned hard work, and Kenny opts for the easy way out. The first season features the boys competing to find out who can stay awake the longest, who can remain seated on a cow the longest, who is sanest, who is more preferred by women and children, and who makes the best male stripper.
