One of the most popular television shows of the 1980s, MIAMI VICE helped define the fashion and music of the period while simultaneously maintaining a high quality police drama standard. The show is famous for its pastel colors and bright south Florida settings, which serve to counteract the sleaze its main characters often had to deal with. Sonny and Rico are two cops who work undercover for the Miami Police Department. They must balance their myriad personal problems with the difficulty of being undercover in some of Miami`s most rotten criminal businesses. Luckily, upbeat 80s music, and their own personal sense of cool, help. MIAMI VICE made a short-lived star out of Don Johnson, who eventually won a Golden Globe for his portrayal of Sonny, and supporting star Edward James Olmos (as a police captain) won both the Golden Globe and an Emmy. The first season of the show has a surprising number of famous guest stars, including Bruce Willis, John Turturro, Jimmy Smits, and Pam Grier. MIAMI VICE is a fascinating cultural document of the 1980s as well as an effective and exciting cop show.

The hit television program EMERGENCY! was a landmark in a number of ways. Created during the early years of paramedics and emergency medical procedures, the program featured the experiences of two likable EMS men, Roy DeSoto and John Cage, as they raced around Los Angeles saving people from a variety of life-threatening situations. Assisting them in their efforts are their allies and friends in the local hospital, police, and fire departments. Created by Jack Webb, the star and producer of DRAGNET, EMERGENCY! emphasized realism and a positive view of emergency institutions, much like Webb`s earlier program. In fact, it was even credited with spreading knowledge about EMS throughout the country, just as Webb intended. EMERGENCY! SEASON 2 contains each episode from the show`s sophomore season.

For audiences who like puppets but eschew those of the more saccharine variety, this Comedy Central hit provides a view into the underbelly of the puppet world. Unfolding in a halfway house for criminal puppets, the four violent, disturbed, and generally unlikable puppets who live there spend their time trying to win over their bumbling case worker, Dan Barlow, while still getting up to plenty of mischief. Most of the adventures enjoyed by Buttons, Bill, Cuddle, and Rocko result in violence and mayhem. In the second season, Bill gets depressed because Dan has disallowed any murder, while Dan and Buttons`s Ouija board-dabbling results in a demonic possession, which compels Buttons to use Dan for a virgin sacrifice. These and other wacky antics are in store with the charming PUPPETS WHO KILL.
