Empty nest syndrome is bad enough, but poor Henry Rush (Ted Knight, THE MARY TYLER MOORE SHOW) is plagued by constant reminders of his daughters` newfound independence in this popular sitcom from the 1980s. Conservative San Francisco cartoonist Henry occupies the top floor of a duplex he owns, and when the downstairs tenant dies suddenly, the girls want to move in. Sara (Lydia Cornell), a sexy blonde college student, and brunette Jackie, (Deborah Van Valkenburgh), a bank teller and the more sensible of the two, enjoy their newfound freedom while their father agonizes about their activities. This season, Henry`s wife Muriel (Nancy Dussault) discovers she`s pregnant at age 42; meanwhile, Sara`s school friend Monroe (JMJ Bullock) continues to give Henry grief, and frequent visits from his mother-in-law don`t help the situation.
