Having decided that she needs to make a living due to her husband's pittance of a pension, Hetty Wainthrope (Patricia Routledge) sets herself up as a private eye who is determined to bring various miscreants to justice. Ably abetted by her assistant, Geoffrey (Dominic Monaghan), Hetty's detective agency proves to be surprisingly successful.
